Oh boy, college football is about to begin!! I am so excited for this season will all of the talent returning around the country. I decided to post my predictions for this fall. I will start with who I think will be in the playoffs and predict those games as well. Let’s go!
Final Four Teams
My final four teams at the end of the college football regular season and conference championships include:
1. Florida State (13-0)
3. Ohio State (12-1)
4. Oklahoma State (12-0)
Florida State will be the best team in the country for majority of the season. I think their game against Clemson will likely feature two undefeated teams on October 29th. I will give the Seminoles the nod due to the game being played at Doak Campbell Stadium. This squad returns 18 starters and will be able to compete each week of the season. Their schedule is favorable outside of the Clemson game, landing them at the number one spot.
LSU winning the SEC may come as a shock to many people, but this team is more than ready to take the next step. Although QB is a question, Leonard Fournette returns along with many other future NFL players. Les Miles also has some heat on him going into this season, and I think he will respond. The Tigers face Alabama at home late in the regular season, which will likely determine the winner of the SEC West. I think LSU beats Tennessee in the SEC Championship to advance to the College Football Playoffs.
Ohio State and Michigan are the two favorites in the Big 10 this year. Ohio State returns just six starters, but Urban Meyer is more than ready to begin the reloading process. Last season, the Buckeyes had so much talent, but fell to Michigan State late in the regular season, ruining their College Football Playoff hopes. This season, Urban Meyer will be able to build his team around JT Barrett. This team will struggle early in the season, losing to Oklahoma on September 17th. They will be young and inexperienced for this game. I think by the end of the season, they will be ready to compete at a much higher level.
Oklahoma State could be a surprising team this season. The Cowboy return one of the most underrated players in college football in quarterback Mason Rudolph. The Big 12 always seems to surprise people, and we could very well see it again in 2016. This team returns 16 total starters from a year ago. This team is more than capable of winning almost every game in the Big 12. Baylor is a mess right now, TCU returns little talent, and Texas won’t be competing for a conference title. Obviously, their showdown with rival Oklahoma in the final week of the season is one game that will be very challenging, but who says they can’t win this game? It may not seem likely now, but the Oklahoma State Cowboys are a serious dark horse for the College Football Playoff.
